Over the summer, some CLL students took part in the Design for All: COP26 Glasgow Souvenir project.
The project was a collaborative 8-week intergenerational project run in collaboration with CLL students and students from Design Manufacturing & Engineering Management (DMEM). The project set out to challenge budding designers to showcase their creative talents through designing and making an original souvenir to celebrate Glasgow hosting COP26 in 2021. The course was led by Professor Paul Rodgers from DMEM who guided students through a series of key design stages including research, concept design, making prototypes, testing, and communicating.
As a memento of COP26 taking place in Glasgow, over 40 students have been involved in the design and manufacture of a bespoke COP26 Glasgow Souvenirs for visitors and locals to purchase and take back home.
The souvenirs will be displayed as part of an Exhibition in the foyer of the Technology & Innovation Centre from Friday 5th November to Thursday 11th November 2021. A catalogue giving an overview and background to each souvenir will also be available to purchase via the Strathclyde University online shop from the 5th November with the proceeds of the first 10 sales of each souvenir being donated to a Glasgow homelessness charity.
