Mentors for Young People in Glasgow

The University have received a request from a colleague at Glasgow City Council asking if any of our staff and students would be interested in becoming a ‘buddy’ or mentor for young people who are unacompanied asylum seekers in Glasgow- many of them are even more isolated now due to lockdown, and would appreciate some friendly chats, perhaps via Zoom or facetime, to help with their language skills too and isolation.

Students and staff volunteering would need to have PVG disclosure and an information event is planned for 18th June.  If you’d like to volunteer as a mentor for a young person, please sign up to this event, where we’ll do an overview of what’s involved (even if you can’t make the event, but so they have your details):
