The 3Ls Social Programme provides opportunities for 3Ls members to visit places of interest and take part in social events in the company of other members.

The programme of  Lunchtime Talks for the 2024/25 session is currently being developed. Talks will be delivered either in University premises or via Zoom and are free for 3Ls members and £3 for non-members.

Travel planning

Our Walking Group is open to all members and offers a chance to take part in a range of group walks in and around Glasgow and beyond. Our routes are usually between 4 and 8 miles and often feature local landmarks and sites of historical interest. The 3Ls is committed to doing our bit for charity. Every two years our President nominates a Charity which we will support via a number of fund-raising events.

The President's Charity for 2022/23 was The Courtyard Pantry and we raised £6,500 over the year.

"The Cosmonaut's Last Message"

Thursday 7th November

 

A visit to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in November, to a drama production of " The Cosmonaut's Last Message " by the acclaimed David Greig, one of the best contemporary dramatists who is  renowned for "Yellow Moon", "Dunsinane" and "Prudentia Host". This play is both intimate and epic as it explores the incessant search for harmony and peace with us all. It has been described as a hauntingly beautiful play which is based on the book "The Cosmonaut's Last Message to the Woman He Once Loved in the Former Soviet Union”.

 

 "She Loves Me"

This comic musical theatre productionat the New Atheneum Theatre, RCS is based on the book by Joe Masteroff and on the 1937 play "Parfumerie" by Miklos Laszio. The plot is set in 1934 and revolves around Budapest shop employees Georg and Amalia who, despite being constantly at odds with each other at work, are unaware that each is the other's secret pen pal met through the lonely hearts club.

It was made into a film which featured on Broadway and has since been nominated in numerous categories over the years. The 1994 London revival won the Best Musical Revival Award.
